Don & Marilee Matz live in South Carolina close to the North Carolina border about 20 miles west of Spartanburg SC. We have six adopted children, all grown. We became interested in Corgis about twelve years ago. After buying 2 corgis, we soon realized we had two wonderful pets… these two pets are altered, they both live with our daughter, Donna and her husband, Ryan.
We looked up the local Corgi club and started attending. Everyone encouraged us to go to the up coming Pembroke Welsh Corgi National Specialty. We met many more wonderful corgi folks there, among them was Sandi Harsh. We bought Eleanor from Sandi. She mentored us thru the next years and is still watching out for us. Eleanor gave us our first Corgi litter. Russell (see his page) is Eleanor’s son. He is co-owned with John Green. Eleanor now lives in a pet home, and she loves fly ball. She of course is spayed.
We still did not have that "special" show dog we wanted. We attended the next several PWCCA Nationals plus many Regional Specialties, looking at puppies, studying pedigree’s, trying to learn as much as possible and pestering all of our new Corgi friends for that special "show corgi". Then I received a call about a nice Corgi litter. We were looking for a female but this boy caught our eye. He was six weeks old, silly I know but we had to have him…..finally after 12 weeks, the breeder allowed us to take him home. Yes he is now Champion By His Grace The Rock (see his page) He's a wonderful loving, handsome boy.
